Christmas Cranberry Sauce infused with the warm spices that remind us of Christmas.

We didn’t do a traditional Thanksgiving feast this year. Instead we had rib eye steaks! I didn’t mind breaking the tradition for that and neither did anyone else at the table. My teenage relatives were smilin’ wide after they finished their meal. But that doesn’t change the fact that we are thankful for everything we have.
The leftovers? Yes, we have leftover steak which I’ll be digging into later today. The leftover mashed potatoes were sent home with the boys. It’s self-preservation, my hips can’t take another ounce of mashed potatoes
On to this Christmas cranberry sauce.
This is an easy peasy recipe for cranberry sauce. There is no orange juice, it’s simply sugar, water, cranberries and the warm spices that smell like Christmas – which are ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and ground ginger. Imagine the aroma that will permeate through your house while this is cooking. It made me want to put up the Christmas tree now!

The first time I made cranberry sauce it was loaded with cut up pieces of fruits and nuts and it got rave reviews. But seriously, who needs all that? The simpler the better, I say. So I took all of that stuff out and just added the warm spices. Best move I’ve made yet.
Christmas Cranberry Sauce

12 oz. bag fresh cranberries
1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
Directions
- Pour the sugar and water into a medium saucepan, turn the heat to medium and stir until the sugar is dissolved. You don’t need to keep stirring the entire time, but you should watch it to make sure it doesn’t boil.

- Stir to combine
- Let it cook on medium until the cranberries pop. It will take about 10 minutes.
- That’s it.
- Enjoy!
